Alright, tiny rant from me. I know I haven't been there as long as some directioners, especially UK ones, but I love the boys just the same.
But even though I started loving them...ugh... I don't remember. I think around fall of last year? Not sure. But since then, I myself could tell that our fanbase is getting ridiculous.
I've just been thinking that I've noticed alot of change as directioners and the boys as well. Though when I became a fan, it was growing rapidly already, the fanbase hasn't evolved into what it is today. With new fans comes the responsibility of growing WITH the boys.
For example, I hate to pull it out, but the carrot and the cat jokes. It's nice that newbies catch up and watch every video they can, but they can't stay there. To the people who have been with the boys longer, it's just a silly reminder of who they were before. Not that they've changed alot, but of course they have (going back to that topic later). The jokes are tiring, and yes, obviously know them, but don't use them. It's frustrating too because people who aren't even fans would get these jokes. Why? Because of our fanbase. I'm not directing this to anyone in particular, but more like the people who have just recently joined.
Honestly, yes, I believe they have changed. Newcomers are one reason they have, sadly. Ill use another example I've used before: that fact that some fans are freaking out about that whole Louis thing at the restaurant. Did you even see those tweets saying SORRY for louis' actions? What happened to always supporting the boys? If you knew them well enough, those fans would know that Louis is NOT a prima donna. YES he can be very sassy, but there's a difference. Plus, at the time, it was based off of ONE little polite tweet. They did not hear from Lou's side yet, but they go off and make it a big deal anyway. He was defending his sisters. There's no similarity between defending and acting stuck up. It is not sass. It is wanting respect, no matter who it is.
So my entire point here is that sometimes, I get fed up with our fanbase. I've got to admit, I notice myself becoming hypercritical sometimes, knowing my actions, combined with others', changes the boys and their perspective on us.
Now, I'm not bashing on our fanbase for being fans. Actually, it may not be the entire thing as a whole, just a section of it. It makes me sad seeing all these newcomers totally taking over from fans who were there since day 1. No one is better, but I can understand how it would be frustrating for them. Look at it from their point of view.
So I've ranted enough, I think. Again, I'm never leaving this fanbase or the boys, no matter how crazy it'll get. All I ask is that the fans keep the rumor-spreading and hate to a minimum. We're here to protect and support the boys. That may not always be agreeing with them, and being disappointed is of course fine, but there's no way one can simply hate on them for a little while without losing their name as a directioner.
It's not how long you've been in the fandom. It's about staying til the very end, showing the boys you'll be there until the end, if any. I just felt like sometimes, the craziness have gone out of hand....
Not satisfied with this rant. I feel like I haven't gotten my point across clear enough, but it's getting really late and I have exams tomorrow.
I KNOW I'm probably contradicting myself in several places in several topics, but whatever. It's what is on my mind, and I'm being 100% honest. No BS-ing here. This is me.
